Weightlifting — falling into it the way people fall into a language. Slowly at first, then suddenly fluent. The barbell taught me focus, consistency, humility, and the difference between ego and effort.
A decision that wasn't just about fitness — it was about freedom. I wanted to build a life around what I loved, on my own terms. I became a personal trainer. Then the world shut down.
During the pandemic, I lost almost all my clients — except one. A friend. A man carrying a series of knee injuries who trusted me to help him rebuild what pain had taken away.
That season didn't just test me. It crystallized everything I now believe about training.
Training isn't about workouts. It's about problem-solving. It's about learning how to move again without fear. It's about rebuilding confidence — not just muscle.

Now I'm in my mid-30s. And I'm grateful to say I move as well — if not better — than I did when I was younger. Relatively pain-free. Not because I'm special. Because I stayed in the conversation with my body.
I didn't abandon movement when life got busy. I didn't wait for perfect motivation. I kept showing up, and I kept learning. I kept asking what my body actually needed — not what the program demanded on the calendar.
